Servers swamp data centers as chip vendors push ahead: Despite
virtualization, the number of servers in the U.S. continues to rise
Despite the growing use of virtualization, physical servers continue to fill
data centers -- and research firm IDC expects the number of servers in use
in the U.S. to grow by 5 million to more than 25 million by 2009.

HP Cools Down Data Centers
Hewlett-Packard is rolling out several technologies designed to cut cooling
costs in the data center, including a water-filled module that fits over a

GSA delays big telecom contracts: The number of bids and their complexity
led to the delay, the agency says
The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has delayed the scheduled
award dates for its 10-year, $20 billion telecommunications contract, known
as Networx, according to GSA spokesman Blake Edwards.
