Activates World's Fastest Supercomputer: IBM's ASCI White
The
U.S. Government today dedicated the world's fastest supercomputer, an IBM system
at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory that will bring the nation an
important step closer to the goal of simulating a nuclear detonation inside a
computer.

Growth Swells
The
FCC said high-speed Internet subscribers increased in the second half of 2000 to
a total over 7 million broadband lines.

The
Federal Communications Commission announced Monday that it will appeal to the
Supreme Court in a move to win back 63 wireless spectrum licenses worth billions
of dollars from NextWave Telecom

Microsoft
Microsoft
said that it has asked the Supreme Court to overturn its antitrust case because
of the appearance of bias by the lower court judge. A legal analyst said
Microsoft's action was clearly a delay tactic so the court could halt the
rollout of its Windows XP operating system.
